As we all know, Taiwan Province is very strong in the semiconductor industry. It is not only very strong in manufacturing, but also very strong in chip design, manufacturing, and packaging and testing. From upstream materials, IC design to downstream packaging and testing, it has formed a Semiconductor cluster.
According to the agency’s data, in the past three years, Taiwan Province has ranked first in the world in chip manufacturing (herein mainly referred to as foundry) and chip packaging and testing, and ranked second in the world in chip design.
According to IC Insights data, as of 2020, Taiwan Province accounted for 21.4% of the global wafer production capacity, ranking first in the world, especially in the process of less than 10nm, accounting for 62.8%, absolutely First place.
Therefore, everyone has always said that China’s core is actually very powerful. It is just because these industries have not been integrated, especially the advantageous resources of Taiwan Province. In the packaging and testing, they will truly look down on the world.
Recently, IC Insights also issued an article, stating that for the first time, it is rare to point out that “integration/takeover (Takeover)” Taiwan may be one of China’s choices. As long as this is done, China Core will get out of the predicament.
Of course, behind the IC Insights article, there is another purpose. It is by no means to tell everyone that this option is very good, so please do it quickly.
The essence is to remind certain people not to let this happen. As for who to remind, I don’t need to say more.
But I have to say that IC Insights’s statement is indeed reliable. If Taiwan Province is really integrated, China Core will really get out of the predicament.
In terms of chip manufacturing, TSMC has entered 5nm and will enter 3nm next year. This is the world’s most advanced technology. In global wafer manufacturing, Taiwan Province + Mainland China accounted for about 37% of the world’s share, the absolute number one, three times the production capacity of North American chips.
In terms of design, Taiwan Province is already the world’s second largest. Companies such as MediaTek and Novatek, together with the mainland’s Huawei HiSilicon and Ziguang, can also rank first in the world.
In terms of packaging and testing, Taiwan Province is already the world’s first, while the mainland is also ranked second in the world. After the integration of the two, it will win about 80% of the world’s packaging and testing market, and it will be in a monopoly position.
At the same time, Taiwan Province has developed a complete supply chain of high-quality semiconductors, from first-line technology, equipment, materials, information, to back-up scientific research and education system support, creating “unshakable” competitiveness.
If these are integrated with the mainland, then in the entire chip industry field, China will be unmatched. But everyone knows that integration is not so easy, so we can only wait and see.
